Quoted from Windsor Star:
"
retired city librarian A. Aziz Chowdhury was cheered Tuesday by a crowd of dignitaries and fellow members of the local South Asian community following dedication of the Bangladesh Peace Clock.
“I am deeply moved by this. The clock represents peace and harmony in a troubled world,” said Yakub Ali, Bangladesh’s high commissioner to Canada.
“This clock is my gift to the City of Windsor and Canada,” said Chowdhury, a college professor in his native Bangladesh before migrating to Canada in 1967 and moving to Windsor 12 years later before eventually retiring from the Windsor Public Library.
Chowdhury donated $30,000 toward the $60,000 cost of the stylish timepiece on the Ouellette Avenue median north of Wyandotte Street. The clock is set against a backdrop of three flags representing Canada, Windsor and peace.
Mayor Eddie Francis said Chowdhury’s “wonderful gift … brings pride to your community” and represents a cultural bridge between two far-flung communities as well as a “reminder of the enduring quest for peace both at home and abroad.”

Again we are delighted to offer you many thanks for your all out support for making well-content constitution for Bangladesh-Canada Association, Windsor-Essex (BCAWE). It was almost half a month that we had a chance to work together to accomplish this mission. Many of you offered your opinion thru phones, emails and in written forms. Thank you for your well-organized suggestions and spending valuable time. Yes, we finally came-up to a consensus. In this matter, we are delighted to say that we unanimously adopted almost all of the opinions came thru emails or over phones.
Secondly, we must thanks to our advisers Dr. Mesbah and Dr. Nahar for their valuable time for conducting BCAWE Election-2007. Apart from conducting election, your valuable suggestions for fine finishing of the constitution are also remarkable in our eyes.
Thirdly, as you all may aware that we collected donation for the SIDR victims in Bangladesh . Again you proved your kindness by contributing for the penniless people. This time our collection was $1410.00. It is the first time that we are going to provide help directly to the affected people. Four of our community brothers extended their cooperative hands to reach our collection to the affected people. We BCAWE feel proud to have your collective cooperation in this matter.
Finally, a copy of the final version of the constitution will be posted shortly. If you see your opinion did not get reflected please do not take it otherwise. We had to undergo thru the majority’s opinion. But of course it is not the case that we won’t be able to amend this copy. It will be the just the matter of time- next AGM.
At a glance of changes made:
no exp/proven activity is required to be the EC member (but be Windsorian)
some degree of commitment is required to get your nomination (please later on see exact language in constitution) .

adjoining area members will be treated Associate Members without voting privilege
all ex -EC members will be treated as Honorary Members also without voting privilege.
Thanks again and thanks for your cooperation.
